Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
Welcome back to a new and exciting school year! I am very excited to be your 6th-grade math teacher. In this welcome letter, you will find class policies, expectations, and helpful information. I look forward to a great school year!
Goals
The goal of this class is to help each student develop their own mathematical and problem-solving mind. During the year, the students will learn the skills to solve problems in logical and creative ways. To succeed in this class, you will need to cooperate, participate and have a positive attitude. Of course, there may be some obstacles hard to overcome, but I will always be here to help! Feel free to contact me via email ([email protected]) or telephone (319-435-8660) and visit my website for updates and information.
Supplies: Please come to class prepared everyday.
Inman Middle School Agenda
Folder
Composition notebook (2)
Pencils
Dry erase marker
Graph paper
Colored pencils
Index Cards
Notebook Paper
Scissors
Glue sticks
Tutorial: Wednesday mornings 7:40 am - 8:40 am. Please arrive to room 2028 by 7:45 am.
Classroom Expectations:
Listen during instruction. Class time should not be interrupted. The first couple minutes of class is reserved for preparing for the lessons (getting organized, sharpening pencils or obtaining supplies) and completing your Bell Work.
Enter on time and be prepared. For maximum learning, students should be in class prepared with the necessary materials to work efficiently and effectively.
Always try to be your best. Every student is expected to put forth their best effort every day, meaning always being aware of the classroom rules and procedures. My goal is to achieve a safe/nurturing classroom environment where everyone feels comfortable. I believe this environment will help all students reach their full potential.
Respect yourself and others. Respect each other with all of your actions and words
No excuses! Follow all classroom policies and be responsible for all of your actions.
Homework: Students will receive homework assignments almost daily. Homework assignments will be listed on my website and checked every day.
Quizzes: Students will be given quizzes throughout the grading period. Typically, they will be told at least the night before that they will be given a quiz the next day in class.
Tests: Students will be administered tests at the end of each unit. The tests dates are announced about a week in advance.
